Eco Church
The church has an Eco Group which is made up of people who believe that God wants us to love our global neighbour as well as be good stewards of his creation.
Our aims:
1 Reduce church building(s) CO2e footprint;
2 Place eco awareness at the forefront of preaching and worship;
3 Inform & encourage individual members of the congregation to reduce their own CO2e footprints and enhance our local biodiversity.
Church carbon offsetting programme
This summer the eco church team is focusing on travel and our collective carbon footprint.
Green Energy Fund
At the beginning of March 2022 we launched our Green Energy Fund (see short video presentation here). If we can raise enough money, we will be able to reduce the carbon footprint of our building in the short term, and in the medium to longer term, save money that we can use to support our other ministries.
We have now reached our first goal, and had solar panels installed on the church roof at the beginning of August 2023.
For more details on the Green Energy Fund and how we plan to take definite actions for positive change, please read these two documents:
To donate to the Green Energy Fund, please use the church bank account BACS transfer details (on the website under Connect > Give > Ways To Give > Online Banking) and put 'EcoChurch' in the reference. We'll make sure the funds are allocated accordingly. Please also drop a note to treasurer@churchontheheath.org.uk, and confirm when a gift can be gift aided.
Any questions, please contact eco@churchontheheath.org.uk or the church office.
